Context

FM Logistic is a French family-owned supply chain company, founded in 1967, operating warehousing, transport and co-packing across eleven countries with around 27,500 employees. MySCM is its client-facing visibility platform: it pulls data from warehouse and transport management systems and carrier networks into a single view, so a client's supply chain, customer service and finance teams can follow orders and deliveries, handle claims, retrieve documents and read their own KPIs without calling anyone.

Challenge

The application people actually opened every morning had grown faster than its structure. The main menu had no clear ordering or hierarchy and gave no sign of which items opened submenus; the submenus themselves appeared as tooltip-like boxes rather than menus. Search existed in three different places with three different buttons, and the results page never said whether you were looking at orders or claims. The landing screen asked "I'm looking for…" before it told anyone what needed attention. All of it slowed down daily order and delivery management for people who live in the tool full time.

My role

I analysed the existing system, defined the navigation solution, and delivered the redesigned interface. I worked remotely as a contractor alongside the product and development teams.

What I did

Audited the live application first and annotated it screen by screen: menu ordering and hierarchy, the dropdown-versus-regular-tab ambiguity, three competing search entry points, unclear back behaviour, generic iconography with the same icon for every recently viewed item, and wasted space on the screens used most.
Restructured the navigation into an ordered, icon-led system with a clear distinction between sections and their submenus, so the hierarchy is readable at a glance instead of discovered by clicking.
Consolidated the duplicated search into one entry point, with the search criteria — order or claim, activity, reference, date type and range — carried through to the results so the user always knows what they are looking at.
Turned the landing screen from a search box into an operational homepage: loadings and deliveries due today with loaded/delivered progress and expected delays, an issues panel for open claims and overdue loadings, deliveries and proofs of delivery, saved filters over the order table, new documents and comments, and a map of ongoing transports.
Designed saved filters as a first-class pattern — reusable views such as in delivery, for warehouse, with PoD or with claim — so recurring questions stop being re-typed searches.
Designed document handling end to end: the add-document flow, the document type taxonomy, and visibility limited by login type — carrier, client, delivery point, FM Logistic.
Detailed the form patterns and micro-interactions behind it all, and delivered the redesigned interface feature by feature with the development team.

Outcome

MySCM moved from a search-first tool to a status-first one: users open it and see what is late, what is due and what needs a document, instead of guessing what to search for. One navigation system with a readable hierarchy, one search, and a saved-filter pattern that scales with the number of clients and flows the platform carries — improving usability across order and delivery management.
